An Overview of the Wessex Institute of Technology, Awards and Contributions

Located at Ashurst Lodge in the New Forest National Park, the Wessex Institute of Technology states their goal as “To develop a series of knowledge transfer mechanisms, particularly directed towards the exchange of information between academics and professional users within industry.” These goals are pursued through three main areas: Research, Conferences, and Publishing. Their research programs have been, and continue to be, funded by Industry and Research Organisations.

In collaboration with the University of Siena, the Wessex Institute of Technology annually awards the Prigogine Medal, established in memory of Ilya Prigogine, Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Recently, in collaboration with the University of Mississippi, the George Green Medal has also been awarded, memorializing Green’s work with boundary elements.

Publishing is done through the WIT Press, and published materials are accessible online in the WIT elibrary.
